You know how crazy we are about play in our house. Its always a priority of ours to make sure the boys have access to play- and the best resources to foster a deep and creative experience. It doesn’t always mean having the best and most expensive toys, or the most Instagrammable resources. Sometimes it’s as simple as nature’s gifts and their imagination.

This is exactly why every time we visit the coast we have to pay a visit to The Messy Patch. Located on Surf Coast Highway in Mt Duneed Victoria, this little gem provides a messy and inviting play experience for kids between 1 – 8 years old.

There is an indoor and outdoor space full of exciting and interesting invitations to play ranging from sloppy and slimy experiences to imaginative role play in a doctor’s surgery. The set ups are regularly changing and, I can assure you, there is something there for every sensory preference and every ability.

The outdoor dinsosaur swamp is one of my son’s favourites and he spent most of his time there. But the cars and sea life space also got a good workout by him too!

There are some staple areas that never change like a cool construction pit full of shovels, wheelbarrows pipes and sand, a cubby, the dino swamp, and the peg board to name a few. But it is always nice to anticipate which new setups will be there and talk about how we can replicate some of the experiences at home.

If you’re ever down Torquay way and have young children, I absolutely recommend a visit to the Messy Patch!
