I love a good bookshop! Well, which book lover doesn’t really? And I found a rippa out in the beautiful suburb of Hurstbridge, Melbourne. Not only are the trees and landscape beautiful, this warm and cozy space will have you wanting to bring a sleeping bag and curl up there for the night among the gorgeous nic nacs and amazing kid lit on offer.

Pickwick and Sprout is nestled neatly in the most charming brick building, surrounded by greenery and nature at 850 Heidelberg-Kinglake Road Hurstbridge. Inside you’ll be greeted with more earthyness (is that even a word?) achieved by the hanging plants, exposed brick, slate floors and crisp timber shelving. The whimsical lights hanging within the vibrant green vines is added perfection! And just for a hint of industrial charm, theres a pretty special spiral staircase too. Awesome.

What’s on offer for you and your little reader? Plenty!

We bought Louis the cutest little booties and wooden egg shakers. They stock a divine selection of children’s toys and accessories like puzzles, dummy chains, magnetic games and more.

Now, to the books. The best part! Stacked and arranged neatly (only way to roll) their collection is eclectic and current. You may not find Thomas the Tank Engine, but you will find new and progressive kid lit with creative and engaging illustrations and story lines. We added a new book to Louis’ collection called Dogs in Cars. A very cool counting book that I’ll review shortly (watch this space). Don’t worry, there are some good old faves too. Trust me, there are soooooooo many beauties on offer you’ll find one (or ten) to add to your collection, I’m sure.

Head over there with your little readers and say hi to Amy and Kane, the owners. They’re up for a chat and are super nice and smiley!

Congratulations guys, you’ve done a great job and cant wait to visit again soon!

Head on over to their website for more info. It’s still a work in progress, but hey give em a break… perfection takes time! Or check out their insta page @pickwicksproutkidz
